Across the Pond
(Realistic Fiction) When Callie and her family move from San Diego to a castle in Scotland things don’t go quite as she planned. Because as romantic as life in a castle sounds, the reality is a little less comfortable: it’s run-down, freezing, and crawling with critters. Inspired by a journal that she finds hidden in her bedroom, Callie decides to join a birding club. Will Callie be able to adjust to her new life in Scotland?

A Place to Hang the Moon
(Historical Fiction) Orphans William, Edmund, and Anna are living in London with their grandmother in 1940 when she dies and they need a guardian. They are evacuated out of London with other school children and begin the journey of finding parents who believe "they could hang the moon.” This is story that will make you laugh, cry, and you’ll want to read it again.

City Spies
(Mystery/Adventure) Operating out of a base in Scotland, the City Spies are five kids from various parts of the world. When they’re not attending school, they’re honing their unique skills, such as sleight of hand, breaking and entering, observation, and explosives. All of these allow them to go places in the world of espionage where adults can’t. Join them on their fast paced adventures, filled with mystery and intrigue!

Glitter Gets Everywhere
(Realistic Fiction) After Kitty’s mother dies on an inappropriately sunny Tuesday, all Kitty wants is for her life to go back to “normal”—whatever that will mean without her mum. When her dad announces that they will be moving from London to New York City, Kitty wants to say goodbye to the places and people that help keep her mother’s memory alive. (Note: This book is an honest look at grief, so if that is a trigger, I’d recommend skipping this one)

The Valley of Lost Secrets
(Historical Fiction) During Operation Pied Piper, Jimmy is evacuated to a small village in Wales. He instantly feels out of place because it is so different from London. And then he finds a skull hidden in a tree. Who can Jimmy trust? Will he be able to uncover the secrets that lie with the skull?

She is evacuated to the country and her new home saves her life as she is allowed to learn, go outside and make friends. But it’s not an easy journey.

City Spies is the best!!! I’m listening to book three right now, and it’s so good! I have a review for the first book coming out soon.
I love seeing books set in Scotland (since it's where I'm from!) have to admit, I've heard nothing but good about Place to Hang the Moon too, but I tried reading it and I found that it sounded really american to me, which really pulled me out of the story. I gave up when she called custard creams a cookie -_- But since everyone I've heard mention it says it's excellent, maybe I should give it another try??
I hope you had a wonderful holiday there! Next time, you should be sure to visit Wigtown, it's known for its fantastic bookshops :)
