Oh My!
We were deep into the dragon-themed 'Wings of Fire' series for months! Looking for more lists related to animals!
Any particular animals?
A lot of interest in exotic or less-well-known animals, as well as birds, snakes, and marine animals!
Let me look through my book database!
🙌
And here's a post I did on Birding - https://booksforkids.substack.com/p/book-recommendations-birding
Marine Animals
- A Whale of the Wild by Rosanne Parry
- Odder by Katherine Applegate
- Manatee Summer by Evan Griffith
Three animal stories I love (a lot of animal survival/adventure)
- The Remarkable Rescue at Milkweed Meadow by Elaine Dimopoulos
- Cress Watercress by Gregory Maguire
- Journey Beyond the Burrow by Rina Heisel
Beavers - Rescue at Lake Wild by Terry Lynn Johnson
Tasmanian Tigers - Music for Tigers by Michelle Kadarusman
Pigeon - Coo by Kaela Noel
Wow thank you Julie! Excited to check these out (and can report back on Ethan’s faves!)
Great finds!
Happy reading!
Fairy themed? Also climate change themed?
I looked through my list and here's what I found!
Climate change...
- Two Degrees by Alan Gratz
- The Lost Whale by Hannah Gold
- Manatee's Best Friend by Sylvia Liu
Fairy themed...
- Never After: The Thirteenth Fairy by Melissa de la Cruz
- Not specifically fairies but the Pages & Co series by Anna James could be a good fit
- Another one that's not specifically fairies, but could be a good fit is Mihi Ever After by Tae Keller
(And now I'm researching fairy books because I am realizing I don't have enough of them in my database!!)
I have three nieces these ages and I love to gift books so I'm excited to follow you and look through your old lists!
Another theme they like is Cats.
Cats, I got you!!!
- Sparrow Being Sparrow by Gail Donovan
- Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate
- Haven, A Small Cat's Big Adventure by Megan Wagner Lloyd (this is one of my faves!)
- Sir Fig Newton and the Science of Persistence by Sonja Thomas
- Elvis and the World As It Stands by Lisa Frenkel Riddiough (An introduction to younger readers about 9/11, with a cat!)
I enjoyed Valor Wongs and Killer Komodo ! I want to read the Deadlands. Thanks for sharing!
I really enjoyed Deadlands, I hope you do too!!
It’s on my shelf waiting to be read!
Yay!
